Full Steam Ahead!

Today was quite a busy day. This morning I made a batch of Caramelized Onions. I can hardly believe that the giant pot of onions shrunk down to fill only two and a half medium sized jars. I think I’ll test it out tomorrow in a fat Cheese and Caramelized Onion toasted Sandwich šŸ˜€

During the same time I reduced a 500ml bottle of Balsamic Vinegar with a finely chopped clove of garlic and a pinch of Brown Sugar. Again I was surprised by the reduction amount but usually I use a liter and then I think I left this batch on the stove a little long because it’s quite thick.. but oh so yummy.

To fully multitask I also whipped up a batch of Dukkah using pan roasted Almonds, Coriander seeds, Ground Cumin, Sesame seeds, Salt, and Pepper (with a tiny bit of Brown Sugar also).

That took the entire morning and I had just only started my Friday cleaning duties when Claire arrived home. We did some cleanup outside, did some gardening, had lunch, finished my housework, and then chilled out for an hour or so before we put the Dukkah and Balsamic Reduction to the test by making a platter and enjoying it in the evening sun on the new deck šŸ™‚

Somehow I also managed to get a bit of writing done today as well. I got an entire page written about me! I don’t know if it will make it into the book but I’m rather pleased with that. I also started mashing the ‘Guide’ content from the failed Gideros website revamp into the book. That’s working pretty well but its just time consuming recreating everything I made in HTML inside Word

Oh, I didn’t really mention that my attempt at creating a new website for Gideros seems to have been completely forgotten and nobody (except maybe @totebo) was that keen on it anyway. I suppose they like the current clunker that doesn’t work properly and contains a boatload of outdated junk.. oh well. It’s all deleted from the web now and safely sitting on my hard drive ready for redeployment as something else šŸ˜‰
